Paytm Postpaid forces wait until mid-December to close account, risking accidental charges that reset closure

Frustrated with rigid account closure policies that create unnecessary risks for users. I’ve been trying to deactivate my Paytm Postpaid account, but instead of an immediate closure, I’ve been told I have to wait until the next billing cycle (mid-December), keeping the account inactive yet open in the interim. Here is why this policy is fundamentally flawed for everyday users: The Accidental Payment Trap: When scanning a standard Paytm QR code, Paytm Postpaid is frequently set as the default payment instrument. With quick biometric or UPI confirmations (Face ID/Fingerprint), it is entirely too easy to accidentally initiate a transaction from the Postpaid account while trying to pay via UPI or bank balance. The Infinite Loop: If an accidental transaction occurs during this waiting period, the deactivation request gets automatically canceled or reset, trapping the user in a frustrating loop where they have to wait another full month to try again. Lack of Immediate Control: Consumers should have the absolute right to terminate credit or digital wallet services immediately, provided all dues are cleared, without being forced into a lengthy cooling-off period that risks accidental usage. I request Paytm and their customer support team to look into this UX flaw and provide an option for instantaneous deactivation once dues are settled. Users should not have to walk on eggshells or risk accidental charges just to close a service they no longer want.
