Privacy & PII masking policy
Last updated 6 October 2026
Panchaayat is a public registry. This page explains what we collect, what becomes public, and how we protect personal information.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, name and (optionally) phone number, from your sign-in provider or what you enter.
- Case content: the title, description, reference details and attachments you submit, and comments you post.
- Consent records: the exact consent wording and version you agreed to when filing, kept as evidence.
- Basic usage analytics (Google Analytics), only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Consent history: your cookie and consent choices, kept as an append-only record.
What becomes public
A case's title, description, status, comments and history are public when its visibility is Public. If you post anonymously, your name is hidden; Panchaayat admins can still see who filed the case. Private cases are not listed anywhere, but the case's own link works for anyone you share it with. Restricted cases can only be opened by you, the company named and Panchaayat admins — not even with the link.
Reference details and attachments
Reference values (order IDs, policy numbers and similar) and attachments are never public. They are visible only to you, the company you named, and Panchaayat platform admins. Everyone else sees only the field names and an attachment count.
PII masking
Please don't put passwords, OTPs, full card numbers or Aadhaar numbers in a case. We run an automated check for phone numbers, PAN/Aadhaar-shaped numbers and email addresses and flag matching cases for human review; we do not silently edit what you wrote. Share links strip emails and phone numbers from the preview text.
Who we share with
The company you name receives your case. Our infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) process data on our behalf. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies
Necessary cookies (always on): your sign-in session, an anonymous visitor id that lets logged-out visitors upvote a case once, and your cookie choice itself. Analytics cookies (only with your consent): Google Analytics with IP anonymisation, used to understand which pages are used. To measure which pages bring visitors from search engines, we also remember, in your browser's session storage for that tab only, the page you first landed on and where you came from; this is sent to analytics only if you accept analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time: .
Your rights (DPDP Act, 2023)
Signed-in users can, from Profile → Privacy & data: download all the personal data we hold about them, see their consent history, ask for a correction, withdraw consent or raise a grievance, and delete their account and cases immediately. Requests that need review are answered by our grievance contact below.
Your choices
You can hide a case from public listings at any time. To correct or delete your account or cases, write to connect@panchaayat.in. Because Panchaayat is a permanent public record, we may retain a minimal, anonymised trace of a removed case.
