ICICI Lombard - Forced Payment Under Protest (Rs 46,603) After 135-Day Vehicle Grounding, Arbitrary Liability Capping & Disregard of Zero-Dep / Engine Protect Riders

ICICI LombardPC-2026-02885Insurance ClaimsAnonymous ·
UPDATE: Forced to Pay ₹46,603 UNDER PROTEST to Release My Grounded Vehicle due to ICICI Lombard"s Stalling Tacticsn My 4.5-month ordeal with ICICI Lombard regarding my vehicle has taken an alarming turn. Yesterday, Saturday, I was forced to clear a balance of ₹46,603 out of my own pocket strictly UNDER PROTEST to finally release my car from the workshop after a grueling 135-day grounding. The ground claims team completely shifted goalposts at the final hour to force a weekend deadlock:nn◆ The Insurer"s Clumsy Logic: Their Senior Claims Manager attempted to justify an arbitrary liability capping of ₹2.60 Lakhs by claiming that the vehicle"s repair value was crossing the 75% IDV threshold (invoking Constructive Total Loss/Salvage rules).nn◆ The Reality: The final, system-generated invoice from the authorised workshop came out to exactly ₹3,05,603—which is mathematically and contractually BELOW the 75% IDV limit.nn◆ The Ground Team"s Reaction: When confronted with the official system bill showing their technical error, the Senior Manager chose to baselessly accuse the customer and the workshop of "price manipulation" instead of honoring my active Zero-Depreciation, Engine Protect Plus, and Consumables riders. Insurance is a contract of utmost good faith, yet I have faced a textbook case of corporate coercion—withholding a vehicle until the final minute of a holiday weekend to force a customer to buckle under financial pressure. I have officially updated my live Insurance Ombudsman Complaint (Case No: ONL-PUN-G-020-2627-00361) and my live IRDAI Token with these payment receipts and the unedited email chain. Tomorrow, Monday afternoon, I will be physically present at the ICICI Lombard Pimpri branch to demand a direct reimbursement or a stamped, formal written explanation for this absolute breach of contract. Corporate governance and customer accountability must start at the top.
