ICICI Lombard - Unjustified Rejection of Surgical Reimbursement Claim for Recurrent Thigh Boil as Alleged Non-Disclosed PED Despite 10-Year Continuous Policy History

ICICI LombardPC-2026-02846Insurance ClaimsAnonymous ·
HEALTH INSURANCE IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOU. BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR CLAIM IS REJECTED? I am sharing my personal experience with ICICI Lombard because I believe every health insurance policyholder should know what to check before trusting an insurance policy. I have maintained health insurance for 10 years, initially with Apollo Munich/Niva Bupa, before porting my policy to ICICI Lombard in November 2022. When my wife underwent surgery for removal of a recurring boil on thigh, my reimbursement claim was rejected on the grounds that the condition was pre-existing and had not been disclosed. My earlier episode had been treated with antibiotic and resolved. No one could have predicted this will recur after 3 years The later recurrence required surgery. What followed was even more frustrating: I pursued the insurer's grievance redressal process, but my claim was still not approved. My concern is not just about the money. It is about trust, transparency and the purpose of health insurance. Here are the lessons I want every policyholder to take seriously: 1. Never assume that portability means everything is automatically protected. 2. Read the waiting-period clauses carefully. Understand pre-existing disease exclusions, specified illnesses, waiting periods and portability credits. 3. Disclose your medical history accurately. Even past conditions that have resolved should be disclosed. 4. Preserve every document. Keep prescriptions, medical records, discharge summaries, bills, claim submissions and all insurer communications. 5. Demand a specific reason for rejection. I am not asking anyone to accept my interpretation blindly. I am asking for transparency, a fair assessment of the facts, and accountability in claim decisions. ICICI Lombard, Girish Sehgal, Priya Deshmukh, Sanjeev Mantri , I request a clear, evidence-based explanation of why my claim was rejected despite my continuous insurance history and portability documents. Have you faced a similar health insurance claim rejection? Share your experience so more policyholders can learn what to check. #HealthInsurance #InsuranceClaims #ConsumerRights #Policyholders #InsuranceAwareness #CustomerExperience #ICICILombard
