HDFC ERGO denied cashless hospitalisation for my father despite a valid policy and complete hospital documents

When a family needs health insurance the most, that's when an insurance company's true commitment to its customers is tested. I am extremely disappointed with my family's recent experience with HDFC Life (ERGO) General Insurance. My father has been hospitalised, and despite having a valid health insurance policy, we have been denied the cashless hospitalisation facility. What makes this experience even more frustrating? All the required documents were submitted by the hospital. The claim was reviewed by the insurance company. Despite the medical circumstances, cashless treatment was denied. We were simply informed that the claim could be reconsidered on a reimbursement basis after discharge. I have a very basic question: If a customer pays premiums to secure their family against medical emergencies, what is the purpose of health insurance if they are asked to arrange funds themselves during one of the most stressful moments of their lives? Health insurance is not just about selling policies and collecting premiums. It is about standing beside customers when they genuinely need financial and medical support. A brand's reputation is not built through advertisements and promises. It is built through the way it treats customers during difficult times. I sincerely urge HDFC ERGO's senior management and grievance redressal team to look into this matter urgently, review the decision and provide a reasonable resolution. And to everyone planning to purchase health insurance, please look beyond the premium and advertised benefits. Understand the claim process, exclusions and cashless settlement conditions before choosing your insurer. A health insurance policy should provide peace of mind, not additional stress during a medical emergency. #HDFCERGO #HealthInsurance #CustomerExperience #InsuranceClaims #CustomerRights #Healthcare
