Cars24 buyback offer questioned against its own listed prices for comparable Honda City cars

Dear Cars24, a small question about your valuation algorithm. 😂 I own a 2024 Honda City ZX CVT, and your final offer for my car is ₹5,74,228 after service charges. Now, let's look at your own inventory: 🚗 2023 Honda City ZX CVT | 68,720 km | Listed at ₹10.54 lakh 🚗 2024 Honda City VX CVT | 31,121 km | Listed at ₹11.87 lakh My car is a 2024 ZX CVT with approximately 21,000 km on the odometer. So, if I’m reading this correctly, you’re offering me ₹5.74 lakh for a newer, higher-variant car with significantly lower mileage than your 2023 ZX listing. Yet, you’re asking ₹10.54 lakh for that older ZX and ₹11.87 lakh for a newer VX. Apparently, the Honda City ZX CVT depreciates differently depending on which side of the CARS24 transaction you’re standing on. When you’re buying, depreciation is an Olympic sport. When you’re selling, suddenly every car is a collector’s edition. 👏 And here’s a genuine business question: If you’re buying cars at roughly 50% of your own advertised selling prices, I wonder how the company is still making losses despite what appears to be a 100% markup. 🤔 To be fair, I understand that refurbishment, inventory holding, warranties, and operating costs require a margin. Nobody expects a dealer to buy at the retail selling price. But a ₹5.74 lakh offer against your own ₹10.54 lakh asking price for an older, higher-mileage ZX CVT? Funny enough the older, higher mileage ZX CVT has a non critical light coming in the instrument cluster! That’s a spread worth explaining. Perhaps CARS24 could use its pricing expertise to answer a simple question: If my 2024 Honda City ZX CVT is worth ₹5.74 lakh when you buy it, what exactly makes a 2023 Honda City ZX CVT worth ₹10.54 lakh when you sell it? Asking for a customer. 😌 Also, before you come up with the genius answer of car condition, your own evaluation rates it a 5 star apart from exterior where it rates the car a 4 star.
