Rapido driver verbally abused and nearly attacked passenger in Bengaluru, forcing escape by bus; no action reported

Passenger safety and dignity must be non-negotiable for any mobility platform. I am sharing a deeply disturbing experience I recently had with a Rapido ride in Bengaluru. After a minor communication delay regarding a phone call while waiting, the driver arrived and immediately began aggressively abusing and using profanity. When I asked him to stop the verbal assault and proceed with the ride, he refused, continued to insult me, and nearly attempted a physical confrontation. Fearing for my safety, I had to run and board a passing bus to escape. Following the incident, I raised a formal complaint under Rapido Ride ID RD17936102161919058. I want to be very clear: My intention in posting this is not to have the driver terminated or removed from his livelihood. Everyone is trying to earn a living whether in cab services, food delivery, or any other gig economy sector. However, no service provider has the right to verbally abuse or personally insult a customer without reason and simply walk away. This highlights a larger gap that needs urgent attention across platforms: Strict Behavioral Guidelines: Companies must enforce zero tolerance policies for harassment, insults, and abuse. Mandatory Onboarding & Training: Because these workers represent the brand, onboarding processes must include compulsory behavioral training emphasizing customer respect and conflict de-escalation. Accountability: While firing may not always be the first answer, a formal warning, retraining, or suspension must be enforced. If platforms onboard workers without proper background checks or behavioral standards, future passenger safety is severely compromised. My only motive in sharing this is to ensure accountability, safeguard future riders, and advocate for basic human dignity. Personal insult can never be tolerated. I am not trying to defame Rapido, but rather urging them and all gig-economy platforms, to take rider safety and driver conduct far more seriously.
