Uber drivers in India are reportedly taking phone calls throughout rides, with headphones in during the entire trip. Riders say they are made to listen to unwanted, sometimes unfiltered conversations for the whole journey, and some drivers are watching reels while driving. The customer considers this unsafe and asks how Uber is managing driver safety standards. I am asking Uber to enforce a clear rule against phone calls, headphones and screen use by drivers during trips, to set up monitoring and action on violations, and to respond publicly with the safety measures in place.
