Credit card application stalled by WhatsApp selfie address verification and missed agent visit

Dear @HDFC Bank, kya main apne boss ko bolun office shift kar le? 😅 Quick recap of my credit card journey: 📞 HDFC calls me: “Ma’am, credit card le lijiye!” 🤔 I think it over, finally apply ✅ KYC done ✅ PAN card shown to your team ✅ Signatures given ✅ OTPs shared (lost count) ✅ CIBIL score: 780 (“Banks love you,” says CIBIL. Clearly not all banks. 💔) ✅ Complaint raised on 14 September Then came the verification call. Your representative said: 🗣️ “Oho madam, ye office toh bahut door hai. Aap bas ek selfie bhej do, main bank ko bol dunga ki main aaya tha.” Wait, what? 🤯 ❓ Why should I send my selfie to a man I don’t know? ❓ Is this how HDFC verifies addresses now, on WhatsApp? ❓ And when your agent doesn’t show up, the result is “Business address verification unsuccessful” on MY application? My office is 30 km outside the city. So my options are: 1️⃣ Ask my boss to shift the entire office closer to HDFC’s comfort zone 2️⃣ Send selfies to strangers 🤳 (No, thank you.) 3️⃣ Pay for fuel in cash like it’s 1998 ⛽ And this is a ₹50,000 limit credit card. Not a crore ka home loan. Just a card for petrol. 🚗 Pehle khud phone kar-kar ke bolte ho “credit card le lo,” aur jab hum soch-samajh ke apply karte hain, toh itna time waste aur irritate karte ho? That’s not customer service, that’s an endurance test. 🏃 And please, no more copy-paste replies like “We’re sorry for the inconvenience, please DM us.” I’ve heard that one already. 🙏 Is there anyone senior at HDFC Bank who will actually own this? Meanwhile, I’m taking this to the @Reserve Bank of India Ombudsman.
