ICICI Bank - Failure to Cancel Physical Loan Guarantee Form and Update Credit Records Despite Written Commitment

ICICI BankPC-2026-02467Banking & LoansAnonymous ·
ICICI Bank Reserve Bank of India (RBI) A Story of Written Commitments, Repeated Follow-Ups, and No Resolutionn Sometimes, the real test of a bank is not how quickly it sanctions a loan, but how responsibly it resolves an issue when a customer’s financial credibility is at stake. I am sharing my experience in the hope that it reaches the right people and encourages accountability. During a loan-related transaction, the Bank confirmed in writing that Mayank Choudhary was no longer a guarantor in the loan application. The Bank also provided a loan account statement showing no guarantor and confirmed that the physical guarantee form would be retrieved and cancelled in the concerned party’s presence by 15 September 2026. I relied on this written confirmation and expected the matter to be closed as promised. However, the committed date passed. I received no confirmation that the original physical guarantee form had been cancelled, nor any satisfactory confirmation that the relevant credit bureau records had been updated to reflect the Bank’s stated position. I sent repeated follow-up emails, seeking a clear answer and written closure. Yet, the matter remained unresolved. What is particularly concerning is that a customer should not have to repeatedly chase a bank to fulfil a commitment that the bank itself has made in writing. When a bank confirms that a person is no longer a guarantor, why should uncertainty continue over the physical document and the accuracy of the person’s credit records? Credit history is not a trivial matter. It can affect future borrowing, business opportunities and financial credibility. Delays in resolving such issues can have consequences far beyond routine paperwork. I am not seeking special treatment. I am seeking what every customer should reasonably expect: transparency, accountability and timely action. I urge the Bank’s senior management to intervene, confirm the status of the original guarantee document, ensure that the relevant credit bureau records accurately reflect the Bank’s written confirmation, and provide a formal written resolution. I am sharing this experience publicly because repeated private follow-ups have not delivered the clarity I need. A written commitment should mean something. Accountability should not require a public post. #Banking #CustomerRights #CIBIL #CorporateAccountability #BankingGrievance #FinancialTransparency
