Standard Chartered customer alleges account deactivated without notice, NEFT delayed and pay order issued despite instructions

Standard Chartered BankPC-2026-02148Banking & LoansAnonymous ·
Pathetic Service by Standard Chartered BanknnOn 25 September, my savings account was deactivated without any prior notification, leaving my funds inaccessible. When I contacted Customer Care, I waited nearly an hour before my call was connected. I was then informed that the account had been deactivated due to an internal restructuring process.nnThis unexpected action put my salary on hold and affected my pending bills and financial commitments.nnI initially requested that my account be reactivated, but was told this was not possible. After further discussion, a complaint was registered and I was assured that the matter would be addressed.nnOn 26 September, I contacted the bank again and, after another lengthy wait, spoke with Mangala, who informed me that an NEFT request was being processed and that I would receive my funds within 1-2 days.nnAfter waiting four days, I contacted the escalation desk and spoke with Sukanya, who informed me that the NEFT had still not been processed. I was assured that the matter would be taken forward and that I would receive an update by 5 PM. No call was received.nnI contacted the bank again after 5 PM and was transferred to Shivani, a senior representative. She assured me that she was personally reviewing my case and would call me back. She subsequently informed me that a pay order had been processed.nnThis is particularly concerning because I had clearly informed the bank during my initial interaction that I do not reside at my registered address and had specifically requested that my funds be transferred directly to my bank account through NEFT.nnDespite this, a pay order was processed without resolving the issue or addressing the information I had provided.nnThis experience raises serious concerns regarding customer communication, case management, internal coordination and accountability.nnI request Standard Chartered to provide:n- A clear explanation for the account deactivation without prior noticen- An explanation for the repeated delays in processing my NEFT requestn- Clarification on why a pay order was processed despite my instructionsn- Immediate resolution and release of my fundsn- A written response addressing the handling of my complaintnnThis situation has caused significant financial inconvenience and unnecessary distress. Customers should not have to repeatedly follow up for access to their own funds or receive conflicting information from different representatives.nnI request Standard Chartered to treat this matter as urgent and provide a clear resolution and accountability.
