Allegation of unsolicited AED 200 voucher offers from PRs in exchange for media coverage

PRs offering me a AED 200 voucher in exchPC-2026-02025OtherAnonymous ·
Apparently, the going rate for journalistic integrity is AED 200. In shopping vouchers. Just this week, I’ve received at least two unsolicited messages from PRs offering me a AED 200 voucher in exchange for covering their story or publishing their press release. And it’s only Monday!!! All I’d need to do is provide proof of publication to claim my reward. One even came with a ready-made redemption form. I’m sorry, but this is blatant bribery? And AED 200? If you’re going to insult my professional integrity, must you also insult my market value? Jokes aside, but this outrageous. PR professionals, know your audience. It’s quite literally part of the job. I’m not naive enough to believe these arrangements don’t exist. But journalists working for credible news organisations operate under editorial standards, not incentive schemes. In fact, even if the story had merit, an offer like this would make me far less inclined to consider it. And don’t confuse us with influencers. This isn’t a dig at them but paid collabs are an established part of the creator economy, not professional journalism. So please keep your vouchers and send me a story worth covering instead. Rant khallas.
