In India, Are Airlines Taking Middle-Class Families for Granted? 🇮🇳✈️ I don't know whether this post will reach a hundred people or a million, but if my experience can save even one family from losing its hard-earned money, sharing my story will be worth it. I come from Bihar, and like millions of Indians, I moved away from home to earn my bread and butter and support my family. For middle-class families like ours, every rupee matters, and travelling home requires careful financial planning. Unfortunately, my experiences with Air India Express, EaseMyTrip, Yatra and SpiceJet have left me feeling helpless and disappointed. Incident 1: A Confirmed Flight Changed Without My Consent I booked flight tickets for five family members through EaseMyTrip, with a confirmed departure at 8 PM. On the day of travel, while checking in online, we discovered that the flight had been moved to 12 PM! Air India Express informed me that EaseMyTrip had been notified of the cancellation a month earlier. EaseMyTrip claimed they had tried contacting me one day and sent an email asking whether I wanted a refund or rescheduling. Since I hadn't responded, they proceeded with the revised timing. Since when does a customer's silence mean consent? I never approved the change, received no revised ticket, and had no clear confirmation of the new schedule. Despite repeated requests, EaseMyTrip refused to refund even a single rupee. Months of complaints and follow-ups have brought no satisfactory resolution. Incident 2: Another Cancellation, This Time with Yatra and SpiceJet Around six weeks ago, my husband and I booked SpiceJet tickets to Patna for November, knowing fares could rise above ₹25,000 per person for a one-way journey. Two days ago, we received a flight cancellation message. Since then, we have repeatedly contacted SpiceJet through calls and emails, but received no meaningful response or assistance. Now, are we expected to purchase expensive replacement tickets for something completely outside our control? For airlines, it may be just another cancelled flight. For middle-class families, it represents savings, responsibilities, and precious time with loved ones. I understand that cancellations happen. But why should passengers suffer from poor communication, unanswered complaints, and a lack of accountability? An appeal to Air India Express, EaseMyTrip, Yatra, SpiceJet, DGCA, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation: Please take passenger grievances seriously and ensure fair resolutions, timely communication, and accountability. I am not an influencer or someone with powerful connections. I am just an ordinary Indian trying to make my voice heard. Today, it happened to my family. Tomorrow, it could happen to yours. I don't know how far this post will reach, but I hope it reaches someone who can make a difference. #AirIndiaExpress #EaseMyTrip #SpiceJet #ConsumerRights #IndianMiddleClass #DGCA #Yatra#AirlineAccountability #PassengerRights
